House of Wonders (Manitoba 🇨🇦)—Topping our charts this past week, is a debut EP that will likely make at least a handful of end-of-the-year lists, if at least our own. Tinge are the songs of Veronica Blackhawk, a self-described "Anishinaabe multi-hyphenate" originally from Lake of the Woods Ontario. Previously compared to Big Thief and Julian Baker, this is a lyrically strong EP, with the track "Burden Complex" reminding me of Tracy Chapman's 1988 folk hit Fast Car.
