CBC Alumni Cordasco to Present Nanaimo Workshop November 25.
CBC Radio alumni Lisa Cordasco will be in Nanaimo Monday, November 25 for a media workshop presented by CHLY Radio 101.7 FM. The workshop is titled “News Radio and The Art of the Interview” and will run from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on the 25th.
A seasoned 30-year veteran journalist and local and national reporter, Cordasco was the first host of CBC Victoria’s On The Island. Topics of her workshop will include screening prospective interview guests, preparing for all situations, and how to write a Q-line and teasers. Cordasco will also tackle the question "What makes an interview interesting, riveting, or even powerful?"
The workshop will help participants to create and present news for radio audiences that is timely, relevant, and engaging. There will be hands-on exercises related to research, finding the perfect guest, fun with microphones, choosing clips, writing for the ear, the use of sound, and performing the script like a pro.
"I am thrilled that CHLY has invited me back to the VIU campus to lead a hands-on workshop aimed at honing your radio/podcàst skills,” Cordasco said this week. “This time around, we'll delve into 'The Art of the Story' which includes getting the best out of guests, succinct script-writing and pro-tips for presentation.
