Our Guest Speaker.

Speaking later in the evening for our AGM, Jacqueline Ronson will be be speaking on what she and The Discourse do in the Cowichan Valley to produce independent news.

“Since early 2018, Jacqueline Ronson has been a community reporter with The Discourse in the Cowichan Valley. The Discourse is building a new way of bringing independent, in-depth news to communities in Canada. The model starts with listening deeply to people, and including them in every step of the reporting process. The Discourse is funded in part by its audience, because it wants to be accountable to people, not advertisers. Previously, Jacqueline was a science reporter with Inverse.com. Before that, she was an award-winning community reporter for the Yukon News in Whitehorse. She earned her Master of Journalism from the University of British Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism.”
