A big summer update from CHLY!

Hey friends!
Jesse Woodward here. It’s been a while since our last update here at the station, but that's what happens when you're busy juggling a lot of different things behind the scenes!
With the summer heat setting in, we're getting ready to launch some of our summertime projects like our Summer Radio Camp for kids. With changing health orders, staff and volunteers are increasingly returning to being in the studio again as we all get vaccinated. I myself will likely get my final dose in the next few weeks, right before I get a camping trip in for my birthday. With some concerted effort by all of us, we may be seeing a post-pandemic world for the fall. Knock on wood of course. In the meantime, it's #hotchlysummer.
Here are some updates on what’s been going on at CHLY, and some changes to our schedule.
New hires at CHLY
We have three friendly new faces on staff at CHLY. Welcome Joe Pugh, Paula Zerpa, and Elijah Robinson to CHLY! Joe and Elijah have been hired on through the Canada Summer Jobs program as our Junior Producer and Reporter and should be with us through to the end of the summer. Paula has been hired on as our Sales and Outreach Coordinator to boost advertising and sponsorships at the station, which will help with much-needed revenue to support our non-profit mission!
Based on a few weeks of having them in the office and studio, they will make great additions over the summer. You’ll hear Joe and Paula on the VIU Meter on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with Paula taking over for former Wednesday host Therrol, and Joe heading up the Thursday shift. Joe and Elijah will both be taking a lead in hosting duties for Mid Coast Morning with support from past host Mick Sweetman, myself and Arbie Fru. Finally, we'll see a return of the Daily News Update with Elijah taking a lead on that project.

Summer Radio Camp for Youths
Parents rejoice, you’ll also be happy to know that Joe, Paula, and Elijah will also be taking a lead in our annual Summer Radio Camp for Youths. Registration for that will open in the next week or two.
Got a Non-Profit or Community Organization?
If you run a Non-Profit or community group in our broadcast community or know somebody who does, Joe and Paula are also taking the time to update our evergreen PSAs (Public Service Announcements) to help support these efforts in our broadcast community. We play these PSAs at the top of the hour at no cost to the non-profits and community groups when we do not have any paid advertising scheduled. Want a PSA?
