Ken Hamm is a well known acoustic solo musician. His playing is influenced by early blues recordings and a love of old timey music, resulting in a varied repertoire of original and traditional songs. His main influences include Ry Cooder, Mississippi John Hurt, John Fahey and John Hartford. His debut release 'Ken Hamm and Friends' in 1978 led to a string of positive reviews. The prestigious 'Guitar Player Magazine' nominated Ken Hamm 'Best Acoustic Blues Guitarist' an amazing three times in a row. A JUNO award in 1991 for 'Best Roots & Traditional Album' was followed by a 'Great Canadian Blues Award' in 2010.
This national award is given to blues artists who through their lifetime have contributed significantly to the Canadian blues scene. Ken has recorded 8 CDs to date, the most recent released in 2017.
