Nanaimo is a hub for arts and culture! This Friday, November 17th, the Nanaimo Art Gallery is hosting Making Waves, a community event to celebrate all things creative. This twice-yearly event highlights creatives from various areas of arts and culture in the city and gives attendees insight into the work they do.

Featured in this event are four artists and creators who are making waves in their work; Sophia Seward Good, founder and designer of the fashion brand Ay Lelum; Julie Chadwick, writer and journalist; Musician Micheal Clark; and Visual Artist Maynard Johnny Jr.

Ahead of Making Waves I was able to speak with coordinator Yvonne Vander Kooi about the event, as well as two of the speakers, Sophia Seward Good and Julie Chadwick. I spoke with them both about their creative process and how it comes out in their work.
