We need to raise $40,000.

Dear Friend

21 years ago this week we officially went on the air in downtown Nanaimo.

Since that date back in 2001, through thick and thin, we've brought you an eclectic range of programming. We have brought you old classics you had forgotten, and their b-sides. We've brought you breaking new singles, EPs, and albums from Canada and abroad, always with a focus on local artists. Independent rock, pop, hip-hop, blues, reggae, electronic, metal, jazz, classical, world-beat and so much more!

Our locally produced talk programs over the years have focused on issues important to you and our community: the environment, food security, mental health, life as a senior, arts and culture, and so on. We also cannot forget to mention our popular syndicated programs like Democracy Now, Alternative Radio, Rabble Radio, and Canadaland which deliver international news, perspectives, and media criticism.

Music and talk not found elsewhere on our local airwaves. Programming that would be possible without the support of our listeners!

This fall fund drive we have a big ask: We need your help to raise at least $40,000 in community donations.

Why? Basic costs to operate the station are ever-increasing. To top it off, in our 20th year of broadcasting we had to take out a loan to pay $20,000 for a new transmitter. A large expense for any non-profit radio station, especially during the pandemic!

You can help us hit our goal, by making a One-Time Donation or a monthly Sustaining Donation. We accept donations via credit card, some debit cards, PayPal and eTransfer. New this year, we can even accept payment via PAD agreements with your bank or credit union (which have lower processing fees)!

If you are already making a Sustaining Donation and want to increase it, reply back to this email to make arrangements! You can also call us Monday to Friday between 10 AM and 5 PM at (250) 716 3410 to make a donation over the phone.

Sharing our donation page (chly.ca/donate) on your social media channels also helps, along with a few sentences on why you support us. Maybe there's a program you really love, maybe you love it all. The important thing is that you tell others about us, and why we matter!

Thank you for the last 21 years. Here's to 21 more with your support!

Executive Director.
