Chollapalaza enters round three of it’s free outdoor minifestival. This time round we’re featuring Rose Melberg, the Bleating Hearts and Loose Tights.

Rose Melberg, previously fronted seminal pop hit makers Tiger Trap, the Softies, and Go Sailor. She sings and plays a guitar, all quite well. The Bleating Hearts play Lo-Fi pop folk and Loose Tights will send us off with Feminist Surf Rock.  All three are currently based in Vancouver BC.

This, and more, will be happening outside the CHLY radio studios, #2-34 Victoria Cres, Nanaimo BC by the China steps from 3pm to 6pm. We’ll attempt to cover costs via a hotdog and ice cream sale, bring your appetite.

Monday July 4th

chollapalazza 2 completed. angelo spencer and crew had issues at the border and were missed. the apollo ghosts provide our downtown core with the nicest sounds it will hear for the foreseeable future. thanks all. the new ghosts ep is available (officially) on July 8th, its pretty great… and available to you free @ http://apolloghosts.bandcamp.com/album/money-has-no-heart-7

This tuesday (July 5th) we have Terry and Jordan, from the fabulous NOISE FLOOR recording studio, spinning sounds and telling stories. It’s their 1 year anniversary. Check them out @ thenoisefloor.ca

Thanks to everyone for making the first Chollapalazza a roaring success. Sunny times were had by all. Chollapalazza part 2 will feature Enthusiasm Radio’s favourite band (the apollo ghosts) and will go something like this:

Enthusiasm Radio and Neo-Folk revival present CHOLLAPALAZA part 2

Nanaimo, British Columbia July 3rd 2011, 3pm-6pm

Chollapalaza returns and once again she’s taking the form of a free outdoor minifestival. This time round we’re featuring the Apollo ghosts, Angelo Spencer et les Hauts Sommets, as well as a TBA third act.

The Apollo ghosts, based in Vancouver, will be making their first trek to Nanaimo since releasing their Hub City based concept record “Mount Benson” in 2010. Jangly, rocky pop ballads and potentially the most smiles you’ll experience this summer. Angelo Spencer et les Hauts Sommets are based in Olympia, WA and are making their first round (period) to Nanaimo. K records alumni rocking surf-dance en francais.
