Leading up to the start of its annual conference, Making Waves: Sinking the Harper Agenda, the Council of Canadians planted a maple tree in Piper Park with Mayor John Ruttan, Councillors Diana Johnstone, Diane Brennan and Fred Pattje, as well as Council of Canadians’ staff and members of the Council’s Mid-Island Chapter.
The purpose of the initiative was to thank the people of the Blue Community of Nanaimo for their warm welcome, and to celebrate the launch of the Maude Barlow Social Justice Fund.
More information on the conference is available at: www.canadians.org/conference.
