NANAIMO MUSEUM

Media Release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nanaimo Museum’s Historical Pub and Cemetery Tours

Step into the past this summer during the Nanaimo Museum’s heritage walking tours this August.  The Historical Pub and Cemetery tours uncover the rich history of local landmarks and the unique people who shaped our community.

Both tours have been popular over the years with local residents.  “The Historical Pub and Cemetery tours give friends and families a chance to spend time together doing something out of the ordinary,” says Aimee Greenaway, the museum’s Program & Volunteer Coordinator.  “People on the tours often have a connection to people or places from Nanaimo’s history so each one has its own unique twist.”  The tours have been revised this year, making it ideal for people who have taken a tour in past years to come again this summer.

Spaces are still available in the Historical Pub tour on Thursday, August 16 at 1 pm and the Cemetery tour on Wednesday, August 29 at 1 pm and 6 pm.  Pre-registration is required for all tours and the cost is $15 per person.  Reduced rates as well as additional tour times are available for pre-booked groups of 10 or more people.  For more information or to register for a tour, please contact the Nanaimo Museum at 250 753-1821 or email program@nanaimomuseum.ca

The Nanaimo Museum and historic Bastion are open 7 days per week from May long weekend to Labour Day.  See the museum’s website at www.nanaimomuseum.ca for a complete listing of summer activities.  For more information about the museum’s summer programs and tours, contact Aimee Greenaway at the Nanaimo Museum at 250 753-1821 or email program@nanaimomuseum.ca.
