Myles Black and the Pearly Whites burst out of the Gulf Islands in 2009 with their enthusiastic first album, showing off their charisma and an impressive dynamism. Their single “King Kong” leapt across the country on CBC Radio and their live show pulled people onto the dance floor and kept them there.

Now, with their second full-length release, Folk-Ass Bitch Music, the Pearly Whites are establishing their style with a solid set of rock and roll dance songs. They’ve gotten louder and honed their skills while still maintaining a strong sense of play and exploration. The lyrics stray between the big and theatrical and the stripped down and forthright but always stay personal and unassuming, asking questions rather than telling people what’s what. With punchy songs like “Unwanted Population” and “Totally Boss”, Folk-Ass Bitch Music is sure to raise expectations and scuff a few floors.
