Elections to the Board of Directors

Of

Radio Malaspina Society

(CHLY 101.7 FM,

your community based campus fm radio station)

Opening of Nominations is September 13, 2010

and the

closing of nominations is on September 27^th, 2010, at 4:00 PM

Blank nomination forms are available at the Student Union office at the V.I.U. campus or at the Radio Malaspina Society office located at #2, 34 Victoria Crescent, Nanaimo, B.C., and completed forms may be submitted at either location.

The Positions presently available on the Radio Malaspina Society Board of Directors are:

Two General Board Member Positions

(All positions are for two-year terms).

NOTE:           All nominees must have been a member of Radio Malaspina Society

for at least 30 days prior to the upcoming Annual General Meeting, which is on October 6, 2010, on the V.I.U. Nanaimo campus in building 200, room 203.

The class size will be limited to a maximum of 18 students, and may initially be limited to those who are able to attend classes in Nanaimo, BC.  Students will receive up to four hours of training per week as required, with extra hours available over 2 separate days per week for drop-in mentorship.

Prequisities to this course are computer knowledge (internet browsing, file storage and retrieval, text editing), proven ability to work as part of a team, and a willingness to become a citizen journalist.

Participants will be temporary members of the Radio Malaspina Society, the non-profit society which operates CHLY,  for the duration of the course, afterwhich regular paid membership (currently $25/year) to the society will be required for continued involvement with the overall news project.

We hope to have the participants selected by September 15, 2010, afterwhich the training program will start.
