Nanaimo: Ashta Cormier interviews Chief Douglas White of the Snuneymuxw Nation. Interview took place June 21, 2012 (National Aborigianal Day) at Swy-a Lana Park.
I was impressed by what Chief Douglas said at the opening ceremony and welcoming. As he welcomed everyone, he explained that when an invitation is given to guests, “when those guest attend it is an honour to the Snuneymuxw people, we have been greatly honoured that you would except our invitation” .
I thought it is a good point to note he &r other speakers did not have any political items in their speeches. As he and others said ” It is a good day to celebrate and expierence Coast Salish culture with the community
