CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER ANNOUNCES MEMBERS
OF INDEPENDENT PANEL ON INTERNET VOTING

VICTORIA– Chief Electoral Officer Keith Archer announced today the members of the Independent Panel on Internet Voting.  The panel members are:

  • Keith Archer, Ph.D., Chief Electoral Officer, Elections BC (Chair)
  • Dr. Konstantin (Kosta) Beznosov, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia
  • Lee-Ann Crane, Chief Administrative Officer, East Kootenay Regional District
  • Dr. Valerie King, Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Victoria
  • George Morfitt, former Auditor General of British Columbia

“All panel members have a high level of independence and judgment which is essential as they consider technology, cryptography, Internet security policy, and electoral administration,” said Archer.  “I look forward to the expertise they bring and their participation on this panel.”

Following and extending the Elections BC report entitled – Discussion Paper: Internet Voting – the panel will examine opportunities and challenges related to the potential implementation of Internet-based voting for provincial or local government elections in British Columbia.

A website will be developed, as soon as practicable, to inform the public about the panel’s work and meeting schedule, and provide a mechanism for input and feedback.
